Scoring was high for the Modesto USBC City Tournament; in fact you could call it record breaking.
In the newly-formed Scratch Division, team From Dreams To In Between rolled up 3,632 pins obliterating the old record for a five-member team of 3,549 by 83 pins and claiming the top spot for the weekend competition. Scott Christensen led the way with a 779, followed by Scott Boyle (676), Alex Bermudez (646), Freddy Irvin (811) and Jason Dewar (740).
In the Men's Team Division, David Barnes, Matt Laughlin, Pedro Flores Sr., Don Erickson and Gary Texeira hold the top spot with a 3,424 total. Erickson's 706 series was tops for the team.
The VPR team is leading the Mixed Team Division at 3,460. The team includes Pam and Rudy Marquez, Jon Carlson, Ronnie Gomes and Jeff Warner. Hair Affair is in the top spot for the Women's Team Division as Kim Eichorst, Dondra Drumond, Carolyn Drouin and Jamie Marksman combined for a 2,965 total.
The score to beat in Men's Doubles is 1,408, posted by Ben Plagenza and James Hess. Mike Seibel and Sharon Aronson lead Mixed Doubles at 1,258. In Women's Doubles, Linda David and Alice Lazzerini teamed for a 1,220 set.
Jim Gordin leads Men's Singles at 789 series (257-239-290). Sharon Aronson's 688 (245-229-190 and a 24 handicap) leads Women's Singles.
Richard Paul III leads the Scratch Division in the Youth City Tournament at 561. The Junior/Major/ Senior Division leader is Kayley Vaid (719) and Chloe Wix leads the Bantam/ Prep Division (791). The 100-average bowler rolled games of 144-165-158 and added 324 pins handicap.
Sandy Delaney and Richard Tavares lead the City Senior Doubles Tournament with a 1,753 total. Ken Thomas and Rick Lazaro are next (1,650), followed by Jackie Wilson and Sherry Kuharich (1,625). The final squad is Friday at 1 p.m. at McHenry.

Qualifying continues this weekend at Yosemite. Winners will represent Modesto in the State BVL Tournament at Mission Hills in 2012. The city tournaments finish up this weekend. Bowlers are allowed to enter any of the tournaments prior to each squad.
The Men's Kegler No-Tap Trio Tournament is at McHenry on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Anyone over 18 can enter, with trio teams being handicapped from 660.
