In defense of Modesto Airport

DARRYL BUSH/dbush@modbee.com - A United Airlines Express airliner takes off at Modesto City-County Airport in Modesto, Calif., on Friday, February 11, 2011.

Visiting editor Gary Gery wrote a negative piece about the Modesto Airport (Oct. 30). As a frequent flier out of this airport, let me say his comments are not accurate. Flying out of Modesto is much better than using the Bay Area airports. Parking is free, no traffic and the TSA and Skywest staff are the best in the business.

Weather does cause delays but the staff always manages these delays in a very professional manner. I only wish the flight to Los Angeles would return and service to other cities would begin.
