McGee fires in six MJC goals

The goals were plentiful and varied for the Modesto Junior College women's water polo team Wednesday.

The Pirates defeated host Sacramento City 14-7 on the strength of six Brandie McGee goals. Alexis Flores added three and five other Modesto players had one goal each.

Goalkeeper Carlee Sousa blocked nine shots on goal for Modesto (6-10, 2-3 Big 8).

Volleyball

Delta took care of the host Pirates in three games, 25-19, 25-6, 25-17.

Jamie Beck, Coryn Hernandez and Aubrey Larsson each had six kills for the Pirates as Annika Rigney dished 18 assists. Rigney also served up four aces.

Golf

The Pirates head into today's 10th Big 8 tournament of the season looking for its second victory of the week.

Modesto shot a 325 to edge Sacramento City by four strokes in Chico on Tuesday. Presli Pilati led Modesto with a 76, followed by Spencer Downey's 80. Today's meet is hosted by Sierra College.

Soccer

Modesto JC hosts a men's and women's Big 8 doubleheader on Friday. The women play Cosumnes River at 1:30 p.m., followed by the men's game with West Hills on the MJC West campus.
