Citizens of Oakdale will vote on a very important ballot measure Nov. 8. Measure O would raise the city sales tax by ½ cent. It is extremely important that the voters pass this measure. The cost to the average household is about $2 per month.
If passed, the police and fire staffing would be maintained. Police and firemen have already been reduced by 26 percent. This is a dangerous and unsafe situation for all of us. Gangs are gaining momentum in our community and schools.
A citizen committee will oversee this money to make sure it is spent as promised by the City Council. The tax goes away in three years.
