Modesto Nuts Matthes, Bettis earn Cal League’s top honors

Modesto Nuts’ outfielder Kent Matthes was voted the California League’s most valuable player and pitcher Chad Bettis got the nod as the league’s pitcher of the year as the league released its annual yearly honors Wednesday afternoon.

In addition, shortstop Josh Rutledge and third baseman Nolan Arenado earned spots on the league’s all-star team at their respective positions.
