A long third inning led to a 17-4 Stockton victory against the Modesto Nuts on Tuesday.
Modesto didn't lose any ground to San Jose in the California League North Division standings the Giants lost to host Bakersfield, 11-6.
The Ports scored six runs in the third, powered by two-run homers from Michael Gilmartin and Myrio Richard.
Stockton added five more in the fourth. Conner Crumbliss hit a two-run home run in that inning. The Ports chased off Modesto starter Alan DeRatt with one out in the fourth inning.
Modesto's Josh Rutledge had three hits and scored twice. The Nuts totaled 10 hits and stranded nine.
While the Nuts have been to the playoffs the last four years, the team never has won a first- or second-half title since becoming a Rockies' affiliate in 2005. The last Modesto team to win a half was the 2004 Modesto A's, which won both the first- and second-half titles and then won the California League title.
