VISALIA -- Up by three runs going into the ninth inning, the Modesto Nuts left nothing to chance.
The Nuts built a nice cushion with a five-run outburst, and it was more than enough to beat the Visalia Rawhide 10-4 on Sunday.
The victory, combined with Bakersfield's 12-4 win over High Desert, lowered the Nuts' magic number to 2½ to earn wild-card berth in the California League playoffs. There are seven games left in the North Division second half; Modesto is off today.
