• Aug. 15-17, South Shore Lake Tahoe for three days, $195 per person, double occupancy

• Aug. 21, "H.M.S. Pinafore" in Livermore, 2 p.m. $75

• Aug. 25 and 28, "Miss Saigon" at Sacramento's Music Circus, $89

• Aug. 30, A Summer of Impressionism at the Crocker Art Gallery in Sacramento, $75

• Sept. 1, The Dutch Masters at the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco, $75

• Sept. 3, The Gertrude Stein modern art collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, $75

• Sept. 4-23, Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons and the Dakotas (Mount Rushmore and more), $1,995

• Nov. 7-11, Solvang and Santa Barbara, $425

• Feb. 5-March 9, New Zealand, with two weeks on each island, $4,995

• June 17-July 4, Provence, the Riviera and the Dordogne, with a few chateaus tossed in, $3,995.
