Tioga Pass Road To Open Saturday

Yosemite National Park officials announced Wednesday that the road over Tioga Pass will open for the season Saturday at 8 a.m.

The Tioga Road- Highway 120 pass is a major east-west crossing over the Sierra Nevada. There are several no-stopping zones along the road, which are clearly marked.

Because of the heavy snowpack and a cool spring, there still are several feet of snow in the Tuolumne Meadows area.

Hiking opportunities are extremely limited and visitors are urged to use extreme caution. Also, ice is prevalent throughout the area and stream crossings are treacherous.

All campgrounds along Tioga Road are closed, but vault toilets are available in several locations.
