Interesting indeed is your take on the Wal-Mart project, which has the blessings of the city of Ceres and the vast majority of the populace in and around the city.
There are people who are for as well as against development. What is important is whether the development will help or hinder progress.
The arguments opposed to the project merit a listening ear. All of us want peace and quiet in the neighborhoods we live in.
But if Wal-Mart creates just one more job, then the people of Ceres have a plus. Healthy competition must be encouraged. Growth must never be stifled. Mitchell Road already has a great deal of truck traffic, as does Service Road. So who is complaining?
Wal-Mart must be applauded for its aggressive growth, offering affordable pricing and employment opportunities.
I would like someone to document the number of businesses that have been required to rent or lease their old premises as a precondition to moving to a better and bigger site.
Hats off to Wal-Mart for its enterprising spirit. Let other like businesses take a leaf out of the Wal-Mart playbook and make headway.
