Oakdale to hold Amgen meeting

May 9, 2011

Oakdale will hold a volunteer training and coordination meeting today for the 2011 Amgen Tour of California, the biggest road race in the United States.

The cyclists will pass through Oakdale about 2:30 p.m. May 17, the third day of the eight-day 800-mile race.

Volunteers and those interested in volunteering are asked to attend the 6 p.m. meeting at Magnolia Elementary School, 739 Magnolia Ave.

Cowbells are being sold for $5 at City Hall, the Chamber of Commerce and the Oakdale Cowboy Museum for spectators to clang when riders whiz through town.
