San Francisco Giants' World Series trophy coming to Modesto

The San Francisco Giants' World Series trophy tour will make a two-hour stop in Modesto on Tuesday, Jan. 18. The trophy will be on display at the Modesto Centre Plaza from 5 to 7 p.m. and admission is free.

Modesto is the sixth stop on a national tour that will carry the trophy from the Bay Area to Cooperstown, N.Y., with stops in Oregon and Nevada in between.

Those who wish to have their picture taken with the trophy can purchase photos from the Giants.

The lines will be monitored and, if needed, cut off to keep the trophy tour on schedule.

Local fans actually have two opportunities to view the trophy next week.

On Wednesday, the Stockton Memorial Civic Auditorium will host the trophy from 4 to 6 p.m.

The tour began at San Francisco City Hall on Jan. 4 and will wrap at AT&T Park on April 8, when the Giants host their home opener against the St. Louis Cardinals.
