In recent days we have received reports from nearby cities that ‘scammers’ have been contacting classified advertising customers, claiming to be representatives of the local newspaper. During the calls customers are asked for personal credit card information.

It is important for you to know that if you place an ad with The Modesto Bee via our website, we will not contact you by phone for any information.

Customers should not provide credit card information to anyone calling about an ad. If you have concerns about the billing of your classified ad, please call The Modesto Bee directly at 209-521-7777 and ask the classified ad manager to confirm that your billing information is correct.
