Yesterday, my daughter came home from school and said she was warned she might get a detention for wearing the popular "I love boobies" bracelet. The campus supervisor said she must take it off.

There is a double standard in the local education system. We want our children to become educated about important issues, and yet our young students are told to keep quiet. The support bracelets are a way of exposing young people to an awareness about cancer prevention.

Our kids can find it exciting to participate in a worthy cause, so let them! Breast cancer is the leading cause of deaths in women under the age of 40. The colorful bracelets are a stylish way to send the message of cancer awareness. The pink ribbon is outdated.

By banning these bracelets, schools are banning the First Amendment right of free speech. Why not make all boys in school pull up their pants? What is their cause? Is it, "I love my Eminem movement"? Personally, I find those sagging pants very offensive.
