Martinez, Norcal golf team finish third

Shawnee Martinez of Modesto assisted the four-girl Northern California team to a third-place finish at the Girls Junior America's Cup Championships at Morgan Run Resort near San Diego.

Martinez, a junior at Enochs High, joined teammates Mariko Tumangan, Brenna Nelson and Paige Lee in the competition that included 18 teams from the western states, Canada and Mexico.

The NorCal team finished 12 strokes behind first-place Hawaii.
