Turlock pitcher Wheeland honored

Turlock High pitcher Vince Wheeland (pictured), The Bee's Player of the Year after going 13-0 with a 0.74 ERA, has been selected to the CalHiSports' all-state first team.

Davis pitcher Jake Sisco was third-team all-state, while Manteca pitcher Matt Barber is on the medium-school team.

Five Stanislaus District kids made the small-school team: Escalon's duo of Josh Miguel and Nick Largent, Central Catholic's Billy Flamion, Gustine's Ben Griset and Linden's Aaron Judge.

Flamion also was an all-state underclass selection.
