Chicchi wins Stage 4 of Amgen Tour of California in tight Modesto finish

Francesco Chicchi won Stage 4 of the Amgen Tour of California bicycle race today, speeding into Modesto shortly after 4 p.m. He finished just ahead of J.J. Haedo. Mark Cavendish was third, according to unofficial results on the tour website.

The racers encountered cloudy conditions as they entered Modesto on a day that started off gloriously sunny and warm. Light showers fell in the hour leading to the finish on I Street.
