BASEBALL

EASTLAKE ACADEMY — Summer and fall tryouts at 300 Primo Way, Suite A. Times: 8-10's from 5-6 p.m., 11-12's from 6:15-7:15 p.m., 13-14's from 7:30- 8:30 p.m. Call 538-4841.

MODESTO EMPIRE — Baseball/softball: Cal Ripken registration for ages 4 to 12 on at the Empire clubhouse behind Teel Middle, time is 9 a.m. to noon. Copy of birth certificate required. Cost is $75 for t-ball and $125 for ages 7-12. Babe Ruth registration for ages 13-15 is on Saturdays at Davis Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please bring copy of birth certificate. Season for 13-14s is April 5-May 10; 16-game schedules plus potential all-star team. Season 14-15s is May 10-July 3; 18-game schedule and potential all-star team. DRAVECKY DAY — Former San Francisco Giants pitcher Dave Dravecky will be in Turlock on May 13 at Emanuel Medical Plaza, 880 E. Tuolumne Ave.. The first 50 ticket holders get free hot dogs. BASKETBALL

CENCAL BALL HANDLING — CenCal Raiders ball handling camp, daily two-week camp from June 7-11, June 14-18 from 5-6:30 p.m. Camp focus is on ball handling and basketball fundamentals. CENTRAL CATHOLIC CAMPS — June 7-11. For children in 3rd through 9th grades. Cost is $100 per person. Limited to 80 campers. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lunch provided. Campers will receive a t-shirt and instruction that will emphasize the proper execution of the fundamentals of the game. Individual skills associated with ball handling, shooting, passing, rebounding and the footwork specific to these skills will be taught each day by the Central Catholic High School coaching staff and players in our air-conditioned gym. Skills will be taught in a fun positive atmosphere using individual drills, conditioned drills, small sided games and 5 on 5 scrimmages. Campers will compete against players of their age group and skill level. Team skills of offense and defense will be introduced. Contact Coach Jeff Hickman at 524-9274.

COLUMBIA SUMMER ACADEMY — Columbia College presents Nathan Rien's Eighth Annual camp for boys and girls in grades 3-12. July 5-8 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $100. Teaching concepts, offensive skills, rebounding, guards/post play. Includes t-shirt, individual analysis, games & prizes, 3-on-3 tournament. (Parking fee is $1 per day.) EAST UNION CLINIC — East Union girls basketball is hosting its annual girls and boys basketball camp for players in third grade through high school. Two sessions: June 1-4 and June 7-10 at the Dalben Center. Cost is $65 for a single session and $110 for both if entry fee is paid before May 22. The cost goes up to $75 and $125 after the deadline. Participants who meet the early deadline will receive a free camp t-shirt. The rest must pay an additional $15 for the shirt. The program has also added an advanced camp this year for high school players. The cost of the advanced camp is $125 and the dates are June 1-4 or June 7-10. The advanced camp will run from 4--8 p.m. and will cover all aspects of playing the game plus added strength and conditioning.
