Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 20-year-old man suspected of stabbing his brother during a fight Tuesday afternoon at a south Modesto home.

The injured man suffered several stab wounds and was taken by ambulance to a Modesto hospital, where he was in stable condition Tuesday evening, said sheriff’s Lt. Mario Cisneros.

Stephen Waldon, of Modesto, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

The fight occurred about 4 p.m. at the home in the 900 block of Lassen Avenue, just west of Crows Landing Road. Cisneros said sheriff’s officials had not determined what the fight was about.

Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at the home, where they found the injured man. Cisneros said the man was conscious and gave deputies descriptive information about his brother, who had left the home.

Deputies spotted Waldon a few blocks away and took him into custody.
