'Merry Widow'
Townsend Opera Players continue their run of Franz Lehar's 1905 comic operetta, "The Merry Widow." The show centers on a wealthy widow who is pursued by suitors after her money. The 1952 film version starred Lana Turner and Fernando Lamas.

Harmonica fest
Mark Hummel's Blues Harmonica Blowout returns to the State Theatre. Hummel and the Blues Survivors will appear with Fabulous Thunderbird Kim Wilson, West Coast swing champ Rod Piazza, the MoFo Party Band and special guest Rusty Zin. An annual tradition since 1991, the Blowout draws sold-out crowds and standing ovations.

Y&T rocks house
Radio station 104.1 FM The Hawk brings the band Y&T back to Modesto. Formed in 1974, the hard rockers have toured with Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Aerosmith and Mötley Crüe. The band's songs include "Lipstick and Leather," "Don't Stop Runnin'," "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" and "Summertime Girls." Also on the bill are DAM and Slackenloader.
