3 locals named to all-state football squad

Tim House became a single-minded football player this past season, refining his running style and focusing on the offensive side of the line.

By lowering his shoulder as he ran, and taking advantage of his time on the sideline to stay fresh, Oakdale High's senior fullback became a star.

His performance has been recognized by CalHiSports.com, which selected House to its all-state medium-school team. Sierra kicker Anthony Hall also is a first-team all-state selection, while Sierra halfback Jarrod Daniels is on the all-state second team.

House, a 6-foot-2, 220-pounder, turned the Wing-T into a big-play attack. He had 1,461 yards and 27 TDs, including four scores to upset Vanden in the section quarterfinals.

"I worked a lot with a friend of my dad's, Rick Jones, to improve my agility and speed," he said. "Three days a week, all summer, we'd work out."

An all-Stanislaus District linebacker as a junior, House also was recently selected to The Bee's All-Decade Team.

Hall had one of the greatest games ever by a district kicker, booting field goals of 40, 45 and 50 yards to upset then-No. 1 Oakdale 44-42 on Sierra's way to its first VOL title. He also caught 52 passes for 715 yards and nine TDs.

Daniels was The Bee's Offensive Player of the Year after setting school records for rushing yards (1,833) and TDs (33). He made second team on the district all-decade squad.
