Ten Stanislaus District football players have been selected to the CalHiSports.com all-state Small School Team:
FIRST TEAM
QB ISAIAH BURSE, Modesto Christian: The Bee's Player of the Year was runner-up for state Small School Player of the Year, with 3,597 yards and 57 TDs. The 6-foot, 180-pound Burse, also a feared linebacker, was named The Bee's Player of the Decade with career totals of 11,205 yards and 148 TDs in four varsity seasons.
DB BILLY FLAMION, Central Catholic: The junior finished with 81 tackles, four interceptions and three fumble recoveries. A hard-hitting safety who was among the region's best in pass coverage, Flamion also caught 34 balls for 588 yards and scored 11 TDs.
OL MATT GALAS, Central Catholic: The district's most dominant center, the 270-pound Galas used his size and strength to power opposing linemen down the field. He is the brother of former all-district lineman Dominic Galas.
LB NICK LARGENT, Escalon: He led a defense that didn't allow a point in five regular-season home games. Had 110 tackles, and had three interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Largent also caught 13 balls for 229 yards as a tight end.
DL RAYMOND NELSON, Modesto Christian: He projects out as a college tight end, but the 6-5, 215-pounder made quite a defensive linemen, as well. The junior had 64 tackles, including eight sacks. Mobility was his greatest asset. He caught 32 passes for 687 yards and 11 TDs from all-state QB Burse.
SECOND TEAM
DB AARON BROWN, Modesto Christian: He had 140 tackles, including 12 in the state bowl, with six interceptions, eight pass deflections and three fumble recoveries. Also ran for 618 yards and four TDs.
WR AARON JUDGE, Linden: Off to Fresno State on a baseball scholarship, he's one of the region's top pitchers, this 6-7, 240-pounder had 54 catches for 969 yards and 17 TDs. He caught a TD in every game.
QB ZACH ROBERSON, Summerville: The junior had a breakthrough season in his second year as a starter, with 2,893 yards and 37 TDs. He hit on 54 percent of his throws, and fired six TDs in one game.
RB KEVIN ROYA, Modesto Christian: Slowed early in the season by a broken hand, he was a postseason terror with 807 yards offense and 14 TDs. He had 148 yards rushing and caught two TDs in state title game. Had 25 TDs, 10 were at least 40 yards, and 46 tackles.
QB DYLAN SWARTZ, Central Catholic: Led Raiders to the section Division 4 semifinals, passing for 2,516 yards and 33 TDs with just three interceptions in 267 attempts. Completed 58 percent of his passes and had a season-high 329 yards in season-ending loss to Modesto Christian.
