Ryane Clowe and Patrick Marleau each had a pair of goals, as the San Jose Sharks took a 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center.

Evgeni Nabokov made 36 saves for the Sharks, who were coming off Monday's 9-1 over Calgary and won their third in a row. San Jose has won five of its last six overall. Dan Boyle had a goal and two assists in the victory.

Wayne Simmonds had the lone goal for the Kings, who had won their last two. Jonathan Quick let in all five goals on 24 shots.

Marleau got San Jose started 5:18 into the game. With the Sharks on the power play, Joe Pavelski sent a pass from behind the net out front for Marleau, who one-timed it past Quick for a 1-0 lead.

"The power play can win you games, and the penalty killing will lose you games," said Kings head coach Terry Murray. "I think this game tonight against San Jose is a perfect example of that."

Boyle got his 10th goal of the season at 9:38, and Clowe's wrister with a little over three minutes left gave the Sharks a 3-0 advantage going into the first intermission.

Simmonds backhanded a loose puck into the net only 44 seconds into the second period, but the Sharks got that goal back with 6:12 left on Marleau's power- play wrister.

"We expected a push from them and they had real strong one," San Jose head coach Todd McLellan said. "Nabokov really stood his ground and made a lot of tight saves around the crease. He didn't leave a lot of garbage hanging around, so we were fortunate to have him playing sharp."

Clowe then scored with the man advantage at the 11:59 mark of the third as San Jose cruised to the victory.
