Modesto man dials 9-1-1 for meth, gets arrested instead

A Modesto man on parole and allegedly looking for methamphetamine instead got handcuffs.

That was no real surprise, given he called 9-1-1 dispatchers looking for the illegal drug.

Louis Peter Lainas, 54, was arrested early this morning on a parole violation minutes after he called dispatchers three times asking them if they had any meth, according to Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Tim David.

Lainas called dispatchers from a pay phone outside of the Santa Cruz Market at 500 South Santa Cruz Avenue at 2:49 a.m.

He told dispatchers he wanted meth, that he would be waiting at the phone and even described himself to them. He called back two other times within minutes, yelling and screaming at them, before deputies arrived.

David said Lainas was booked into Stanislaus County Jail for the parole violation, and added that deputies did not provide him with any meth.
