FIRST TEAM OFFENSE

QB Nathan Costa, Hilmar (2005)

The Bee's Player of the Year and a two-time all-district quarterback, Costa finished with 9,624 yards and 85 TDs. He completed 434 of 780 passes for 6,43 yards, with 50 TDs and 23 interceptions, and ran 425 times for 3,192 yards and 35 scores before going to Oregon. He threw for 2,252 yards and ran for 1,709, and had a hand in 33 TDs his senior year.

RB Wendell Mathis, Merced (2000)

One of the greatest backs from a school that is the best in the district at producing them -- Merced has three of the six backs on the all-decade team. Before heading off to UCLA, Mathis ran for 1,981 yards and 21 TDs his senior season -- finishing with a school-record 3,442 yards rushing. He also set school records for most yards in a game and season.

RB Anthony Harding, Pitman (2005)

A two-time all-district pick, Harding rushed for 3,356 yards and scored 45 TDs in his final two seasons. He also caught 23 balls as a junior, helping to earn him a scholarship to Fresno State. The top runner in the Pride's Wing-T offense, he teamed with QB Colin Kaepernick to form a potent combination.

RB Stephon Mathis, Merced (2008)

One of the top speed backs, Mathis finished his two-year career with 3,101 yards rushing and 41 TDs -- and led the Bears to the section semifinals as a senior. He had 195 carries for 1,947 yards, a remarkable 10 yards a carry at the Division 1 level, and scored 28 TDs his final season. He had three 200-yard games as a senior and eight TDs of at least 50 yards.

WR Brad Bispo, Downey (2004)

One of the city's top receivers of all time and was The Bee's Player of the Year after catching 72 passes for 1,106 yards and 13 TDs as a senior -- school records broken this fall by Javon Kelly. The two-time all-district pick had career totals of 124 catches for 1,822 yards and 24 TDs. He also had 60 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions as a senior.

WR Carter Todd, Merced (2006)

A two-time all-district pick, Todd is one of four offensive stars from the Bears' 2006 team to earn all-decade recognition. He caught 66 passes for 967 yards and 16 TDs, and caught three TDs in a loss to Vacaville in the thrilling section final. He grabbed 71 balls for 1,068 yards and six TDs as a junior, including an 11-catch, 226-yard performance against Pitman.

TE Jarrett Sparks, Merced (2007)

After playing a supporting role in the '06 team that reached the section final -- he was the fourth option behind Todd, Carlos Acosta and Garrett Turner -- Sparks was the district's best as a senior. He had 42 catches for 934 yards, 22.2 yards a catch, and 14 TDs to earn a scholarship to Cal. He had five catches for 168 yards and four TDs against Turlock.

OL Chris Hines, Beyer (2000)

A dominant two-way linemen before heading off to Nevada on scholarship. He was known for tremendous power coming off the ball and was the CCC Offensive Linemen of the Year when it was the district's dominant conference. The 6-2, 285-pounder led the Patriots in tackles as a senior and was pursued by Arizona and USC, among others.

OL Adam Lee, Golden Valley (2003)

Might have been the top tackle of the decade, as the 6-3, 350-pounder still is talked about when folks discuss the region's top linemen. Dennis Stubbs coached the Cougars at the time, and says Lee was extremely quick and knew how to use his weight when battling defenders. "If you got in his way, you were in trouble," Stubbs said.

OL Dominic Galas, Central Catholic (2007)
