MERCED - A breakdown in the printing press at the Merced Sun-Star has resulted in delays in delivery of both the Sun-Star and The Modesto Bee to readers in Merced County.

The Sun-Star press encountered problems about halfway through its nightly run. About half the papers had been printed, and the remainder were printed at The Fresno Bee.

Because the Sun-Star and The Modesto Bee have the same distributor in Merced County, that slowed delivery for both papers. Deliveries are expected to be completed about noon.

The Merced breakdown did not affect deliveries of The Modesto Bee in Modesto or other parts of Stanislaus County.

The Sun-Star, Fresno Bee and Modesto Bee are all members of the McClatchy Co. newspaper group.
