ART SUBMISSIONS

WHERE: Mistlin Gallery, 1015 J St.
INFO: The Central California Art Association is seeking submissions from children ages 1 to 18 for the Young Masters Art Show 2010 at the Mistlin Gallery. The show will run Jan. 18 through Feb. 21. Categories are painting, drawing and sculpture, and are grouped by age. Awards will be recognized with ribbons and art supplies. For a prospectus, go to www.ccartassn.org or the gallery. DONATIONS NEEDED

WHEN: Through Monday
INFO: In honor of the annual Homeless Persons Memorial Day, items are being collected for donation to the homeless. Items needed in adult sizes include: rain ponchos, jackets, hats, gloves, socks and blankets. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:

• Corner of Hope, 1130 Sixth St.
• The Empowerment Center, 800 Scenic Drive, Building 4
• National Alliance on Mental Illness, 500 N. Ninth St.

Donated items will be given to homeless people attending a memorial Monday at 6:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army shelter, Ninth and D streets. It is open to the public. For more information, call 525-6056.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA

WHEN: Saturday, 8:30-9:30 a.m. and 10:30-11:30 a.m.
WHERE: Merced Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St.
INFO: The city Parks and Community Services Department will hold a "Breakfast with Santa." There will be carnival games, songs, and arts and crafts for the kids. Breakfast will be eggs and a pancake with a side of bacon or sausage. Admission is $3 in advance or $5 at the door. Toddlers are admitted free. Space is limited. For information, call 564-0591.
