Man seriously injured in southwest Modesto shooting

A man was shot Sunday evening in the 1200 block of Inyo Avenue in southwest Modesto, the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department reported.

The man had stepped outside of a family member's home and was by his car on the shoulder of the road when he was shot at least once.

"We don't know if this was a drive-by shooting or if someone walked up to him" and shot him, Lt. Mario Cisneros said.

The victim, whose name was not available, was taken to a Modesto hospital with serious injuries.

The shooting was reported at 7:26 p.m.
