Modesto City Council members Monday could craft a committee to review the city's development fees.
Modesto has postponed certain scheduled development fee increases because of the region's steep downfall in new construction.
The proposed fee committee would study and coordinate all of the city's building charges so they make more sense to prospective developers.
Some Modestans are leery about the prospect of holding off on scheduled fee increases because of errors that left the city shortchanged for the costs of new public services during the construction of new subdivisions in northeast Modesto in the late 1990s and earlier this decade.
The council's Finance Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday in Room 2005 at Tenth Street Place, 1010 10th St.
