THRIFT STORE OPENING

WHEN: Today, 10 a.m.
WHERE: Memory Lane Thrift Store, 700 McHenry Ave.
INFO: The Memory Lane Thrift Store will hold a grand opening. All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer's Day Care Facility at Miller's Place. Store hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For additional information, call 527-3412.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST

WHERE: Westport School, Multipurpose Room, 5218 S. Carpenter Road
INFO: Westport 4-H will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast. Tickets are available from any Westport 4-H member or may be purchased at the door. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children. For more information, call 537-2807.

MJC TURKEY TROT

WHEN: Thursday, 9 a.m.
WHERE: Tuolumne River Regional Park
INFO: The Modesto Junior College Cross Country Team will hold the annual Modesto Turkey Trot. There will be a kids half-mile run followed by a 5K run/walk. There will be awards, refreshments and raffle prizes. The costs range from $5 to $25. Proceeds benefit the MJC Cross Country program. PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP

WHEN: Monday, 7-9 p.m.
WHERE: Health Education and Conference Center, McHenry Village, 1700 McHenry Ave.
INFO: Us-Too, a prostate cancer support group for men, meets the fourth Monday of each month. David Gianelli from Gianelli and Associates will speak on wills and trusts. CHILDREN'S CONTEST

WHEN: Through Nov. 30
WHERE: Modesto library, 1500 I St.
INFO: Children are invited to submit names for the squirrel mascot that has taken up residence in Ryan's Reading Tree. Children ages 3 to 14 are encouraged to submit their suggestions at the children's desk at the library or online at www.stanislauslibrary.org/tk_kids.shtml. The child with the winning submission will receive a prize provided by the Friends of the Modesto Library. For more information, call 558-7810.
