Modesto City Schools Associate Superintendent Daisy Lee will leave the district in January to take over as superintendent of the 2,400-student Galt Union High School District.
Just south of Sacramento, Galt takes Lee closer to where she lives and used to work. She followed Modesto Superintendent Arturo Flores from the Sacramento City Unified School District nearly two years ago. Lee is one of three associate superintendents in charge of "academic learning communities."
Flores congratulated Lee on her appointment in a letter to administrators, and said he was working on a plan to reassign her duties.
