Isaiah Burse, Modesto Christian: Most dynamic player in D4 throws, catches, runs and plays defense -- he's returned four interceptions for TDs. He's being recruited by a half-dozen schools at quarterback, receiver and athlete. Hurt in last year's playoffs, he is crucial to MC's bid for a State Small School Bowl bid.

Asher Gotzmer, Placer -- Led Placer past 10-0 Oakdale a year ago, one of biggest upsets in history of The Corral. Has 1,241 yards and 16 TDs running out of wing-T, and averages 40 yards on 16 catches, with six TDs. As physical as he is talented.

Dylan Swartz, Central Catholic -- Mr. Reliability, as only three players in the country have more than 189 attempts and 1,800 yards without an interception. A prototype passer, the lanky Swartz has 25 TDs and knows all about pressure -- he led Raiders in State Bowl as a sophomore.

Pat Rawlins, Colfax -- Might be best back in division, though Gotzmer will disagree. Hasn't been held under 146 yards in the last eight weeks, including 279 in Week 8. Had 340 yards in last two weeks in narrow losses to 10-0 Lincoln and 9-1 Placer.

Zach Roberson, Summerville -- Lone junior on this list and one of three QBs, he has 35 TDs and nearly 2,500 yards passing. He had 347 yards, six TDs Friday night, giving him at least four TD passes in five of the Bears' last six games.
