A man was injured after the car he was driving rear-ended another and flipped over on its roof in central Modesto today just after 9 a.m.
The accident occurred at the intersection of West Orangeburg and Ardmore avenues, just east of College Avenue.
A 55-year-old Modesto man was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on Orangeburg when he came upon cars backed up at a traffic signal, according to Sgt. Brian Findlen of the Modesto Police Department. Unable to stop in time, his car rear-ended a Ford Escort driven by a 24-year-old Modesto woman, and then continued on before flipping onto its roof.
The driver of the Camry, the only occupant of that car, complained of chest pains, and was transported to a nearby hospital. The driver of the Ford, the only occupant of that car, also was transported to a hospital complaining of pain, police said.
Findlen said his department is investigating claims by the man that a medical condition may have contributed to the collision. It hasn’t been determined at what speed the man was driving.
