MJC and Columbia meet tonight in Modesto

The Modesto Junior College Pirates and Columbia Claim Jumpers, both 2-1 after encouraging tournament performances, meet tonight in MJC's men's basketball home opener at 7 o'clock.

The Pirates took third place at the Cosumnes River tournament as guard Brandon Curtis, who hit six 3-pointers against Cañada, was named to the all-tournament team. Columbia showed improvement at the Las Positas tournament, thanks in part to all-tourney selection Simeon Walker.
