The California State University, Stanislaus, faculty will consider a no-confidence vote against President Ham Shirvani. The university's academic senate Tuesday voted to authorize the campuswide vote.

Senate members said recent budget cuts were not the impetus for the decision. "There has been an ongoing pattern of financial mismanagement coupled with a continuing resistance to telling the public how their tax dollars are being spent," Ken Schoenly, professor of biology and past chairman of the faculty budget committee, said in a news release.

The academic senate also cited high turnover in administrative positions and deteriorating relations between faculty and the president.

The Nov. 12-19 vote will allow more than 300 employees, including librarians, counselors, coaches and academic administrators — and Shirvani — to express to the public their confidence in Shirvani's leadership.
