The Modesto City Council will meet Wednesday this week, instead of this afternoon, because today is Election Day. The council is scheduled to vote on:

- Awarding a $131,669 contract to Bay Cities Automatic Gates of San Carlos to buy and install seven parking machines at city-operated lots

- Buying three police dogs for $22,600

- Signing a five-year lease agreement with Stanislaus County for Stanislaus Regional Transit to use the Modesto Transportation Center. The county would pay the city $25,000 the first year, with a 3 percent increase each year after that.

- Approving a $50,000 contract with Holmes International of Sacramento to help the city develop a program to reduce the amount of fats, oils and grease discharged into the sewer system

The council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the basement chambers of Tenth Street Place, 1010 10th St.
