Cardoza running for re-election

Rep. Dennis Cardoza, D-Merced, said Friday he'll run for re-election for a fourth term representing the 18th Congressional District.

"I'm pleased and fired up that I'm running again, and we will win in 2010," the congressman said, according to a news release from his office.

Cardoza's district comprises Merced County and parts of Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Fresno and Madera counties.

Mike Berryhill, a Turlock Irrigation District director and a member of a prominent political family, is running against Cardoza in the November 2010 election.

Berryhill, 62, is a Ceres rancher and a Republican.
