Opera for the needy

Modesto's Townsend Opera Players will offer free performances for low-income adults and families this season through its new All Access Program.

Clients from The Salvation Army, Sierra Vista Child and Family Services and Modesto Gospel Mission will attend the final dress rehearsal of each major production, take a backstage tour of the Gallo Center for the Arts, hear a talk about the show from the conductor and director and watch a complete performance.

"There are many people in our community that do not have the opportunity to experience the arts due to life circumstances, and the All Access Program gives them the chance to experience something special," said TOP Executive Director Matthew Buckman in a statement. "We hope this experience gives the participants of glimpse into what life has to offer."
