ARMANDO HERNANDEZ
Johansen quarterback
With a huge offensive line and the Stanislaus District's most feared tailback, Johansen didn't need much of a passing game last year. With many of those pieces gone this season, the Vikings have expanded their playbook in an effort to get the ball downfield.
The emergence of junior quarterback Armando Hernandez has helped. He threw for three touchdowns, completing 7 of his 11 passes for 114 yards, in a 24-6 victory over Bear Creek.
"Armando is continuing to learn how to be a complete quarterback," Coach Jason McCoy said. "He is learning to read defenses and audible. He is spending a lot of time watching film, working with timing routes, and staying in the pocket."
"Being able to run the ball effectively opened up the play-action pass series. We will need to be able to run the ball effectively and have a sound passing game to compete in the MMC."

CHARLES BROWN
Livingston running back
Folks in Livingston are excited about their team this fall, and Charles Brown is part of the season. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound junior had a 31-yard TD run, a 26-yard TD catch and forced two fumbles that his teammates returned for TDs as the Wolves blanked Delhi 43-0.
"Charles is a downhill runner who seems to get faster and stronger as the game goes on," coach Chris Lacey said. "I (also) enjoy his quickness on defense. He can make plays sideline to sideline,"
Brown, who carries a 3.8 GPA and averages 9.1 yards per carry, also has a 93-yard TD pass. Toss in a 15-yard average on eight receptions, and it's clear he is at the heart of the 4-1 Wolves' offense.
"Charles is a leader. People who know him want to see him succeed," said Lacey, noting Brown averages seven tackles a game. "He is a congenial young man who takes care of business."
