What office do you seek?

Modesto City Schools Board of Education-Trustee

What is the primary reason you are running for this office?

Modesto City Schools is in the early stages of an important transition. Recently, the board recognized the urgent need for a long-term plan to improve the quality of our academics and provide equal opportunities for all students to succeed. I wish to continue to assist the district through this transition and to support students and faculty while implementing all the elements of our strategic plan. I want to know I did everything possible to level the playing field for all students. Public education is critical to the success of our society

What will be your single most important priority if you get elected?

To make responsible yet innovative decisions that support academic achievement for our students and staff while keeping in mind the realities of the budget situation for our district and state.

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

I am one of only 2 candidates with a child currently enrolled in the public school system. In addition, I have executive management experience in a non-profit organization that is going through many of the same changes and budget challenges as the school district. I have practical work experience in for-profit, government and non-profit organizations. I’ve been a school board member for the last four years and offer our community a combination of excellent experience in serving without having become entrenched and blind to needed changes in our system.
