Coach: James Stacy

Career record: 13-10

Record at school: 13-10

Last year: Enochs (9-3) won the MMC and was as impressive as any city team in recent memory, reaching the section Division 1 quarterfinals.

Last league title: 2010

Last playoff berth: 2010

Coaching staff: Chad Nelsen, Efrem Grimes, Jonathan Quevedo, Chris Olsen, Ruben Torres, Trevor Pratt.

Top returners: QB/FS Tyler Munoz, OL/DL Eric Flores, ILB Josiah Okamoto, SS/SB Zach Dahlen, RB/CB Justice Chambers, OL/OLB Justin Gilbert, RB Jesse Castillo, WR Stephan Daniels, OL/DL Clint Howard, OL/DL Jonah Tinajero.

Top newcomers: RB/CB Tomas Alvarez, WR/CB Joshua Quevedo, RB/OLB Efrem Grimes.

Outlook: The Eagles brought some respectability back to the MMC by winning their playoff opener, then giving Granite Bay a game for three quarters before falling 33-10. The other losses were 20-18 to Buhach Colony (Division 2 finalist) and 34-33 to Manteca (co-Valley Oak League champ). The graduation of RB Herbert Whitehurst (784 yards, 15 TDs) leaves a huge hole, but Chambers (24 carries, 90 yards) and Castillo (490 yards, four TDs; 15 catches, 15-yard avg.; 3 INTs) are expected to share carries. Munoz and Flores were all-district selections as juniors, and Munoz brings an athleticism to the backfield that should lead to more running opportunities. Okamoto averaged 11 tackles a year ago, and had nine sacks. Munoz has 6 INTs on defense as a junior, and moves to QB this season.

Key game: Enochs visits Buhach Colony in Week 2, a rematch of one of last year’s most entertaining games – the Eagles scored with 2 minutes left, but missed on the two-point attempt. BC’s offensive line averages 290 pounds, and has three potential D1 recruits, which will be a test for Enochs’ undersized linemen.
