Wasden gets two Modesto sendoffs

Former Modesto Police Chief Roy Wasden, who starts his new job as city manager in Turlock on Friday, will be honored at two events.

On Friday, a free "Community Sendoff" is planned by pastors and community organization leaders. It will be from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. at Valley Bible Fellowship Church, 1483 Mable Ave.

The second event will be a "Toast and Roast Dinner" at 6 p.m. June 30 at the Elks Lodge, 645 Charity Way. Cost is $50 per person. The event is a fund-raiser for Solutions Teen Outreach Program.
