MADERA -- Manteca native Ross Strmiska ducked under polesitter Matt Erickson on the third lap of the Hoosier Tire Night 50-lap Western Late Model feature at Madera Speedway on Saturday and never looked back as he cruised to his second consecutive win and third overall this season.

Trevor Schlundt finished in second and Carlos Vieira of Merced came home third. Other winners included Matt Erickson in the American Limited Stock Cars, Tracy's Scott Winters in the Grand American Modifieds, Jason Kerns in the Toyota Sedans and 67-year-old Dean Davison in the Hornets.

HANGTOWN CLASSIC, at Rancho Cordova -- Mike Alessi raced to his first career AMA Pro Motocross Championship 450 Class victory, winning the Hangtown Motocross Classic at Prairie City SVRA.

Alessi won the first moto despite an early fall, then finished second to Josh Grant in the second. However, the AMA penalized Grant one position for not adhering to a hazard flag during the latter stages of the moto, giving Alessi a 1-1 moto finish. In the 250 Class, France's Christophe Pourcel raced to his first U.S. Motocross victory.
