Bargain Hunter: Plenty of places offer meals, treats for cheap

May 30, 2009

More tips from readers and retailers have been coming in to help everyone squeeze those pennies. Here are a few:

A couple more restaurants can be added to the feed-the-kids-for cheap list.

Many Denny's locations serve the young and hungry for free from the restaurant's kids menu Tuesdays and Saturdays from 4 to 10 p.m. Up to two kids meals (drinks not included) are free with the purchase of one adult entrée. Check with your favorite Denny's to confirm the promotion is offered, as not all locales participate, and some only participate on Tuesdays.

It's a bargain buffet as Hometown Buffet provides 99-cent meals Mondays through Saturdays for kids ages 2 to 11.

We've talked before about $1 scoop Tuesdays at Baskin-Robbins and it turns out the ice cream shops aren't the only summer treat purveyor offering discounted delights.

TCBY has declared Waffle Cone Wednesdays with 99-cent waffle cones filled with your choice of six soft-serve or 16 hand-dipped yogurt flavors. The deal is good all day Wednesdays.

If smoothies are your preference, TCBY also has a daily Happy Hour with all smoothies offered at half price from 5 to 6 p.m.

And note this on your June calendar: Some special love will be handed out on Father's Day, June 20, when TCBY serves up a free cup or cone all day for all dads.
