Jacqueline Marie Borja Schmitz was found dead in her apartment May 6, 2009 in the 700 block of 18th Street, just north of G Street. The case was determined this week to be a homicide.

Name: Modesto resident Jacqueline Marie Borja Schmitz

Synopsis: Schmitz, 29, was found strangled in her downtown Modesto apartment May 6. She lived in the 700 block of 18th Street, just north of G Street. On May 27, police arrested one of the apartment complex's tenants in her death. Albert Lee Talley, 36, already was in custody at the jail after pleading guilty in a May 7 carjacking in Modesto. Detectives are looking for Shellie Morris, 35, for questioning as a potential witness in the investigation. Morris is believed to be a transient who frequents downtown Modesto, the Tuolumne River area and Modesto city parks.
