Bulldogs in WAC baseball tourney

After getting their first sweep of the season to close Western Athletic Conference play at 12-12, the Fresno State baseball team (28-27) squeaked into the conference tournament as the sixth and final qualifying team. Turlock's Tom Mendonca hit a home run in an 11-8 victory and an RBI single in an 8-7 victory over Sacramento State on Saturday to complete a four-game sweep. The defending national champion Bulldogs open the WAC Tournament against New Mexico State on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT in Honolulu.
