Info: The surf vibe comes to the Central Valley in a live music party to raise funds for research conducted by eating disorder specialists at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University. The Hallway Ballers of Monterey will perform their music blending funk, reggae and rock. No host food and bar; posh giveaway prizes such as designer outdoor furniture. Proceeds will go toward a $200,000 study to explore teen weight issues at the My Weigh intuitive eating facility in Oakland, operated by marriage and family therapist Signe Darpinian of Modesto. Pre-party at 6:30 p.m.; the band plays at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 a person and are available at the door. Info: The Moms Club of Ceres is holding an open house. The group, which takes in Ceres, Hughson, Waterford and south Modesto areas, is a local nonprofit organization serving at-home moms and their children. Info: Turlock Head Start children and their parents can learn fitness tips with CSU Stanislaus the varsity basketball team and Sigma Lambda sorority. The Office of Service Learning and the student athletes of the university's men's basketball team will co-sponsor a sports fitness clinic for 3- to 5-year-old students and their parents enrolled in the Turlock Head Start program. Head Start students will learn how to stay healthy through fun, sports-related activities. The soccer field will be transformed into different sport stations.
