Names released in fatal hit-and-runs

The Stanislaus County coroner's office has released the identities of two people killed by hit-and-run drivers in the past few days.

Ceres resident Ronald Murphy, 55, was killed early Saturday as he walked across Kiernan Avenue near Toomes Road. The California Highway Patrol has classified the incident as a felony hit-and-run with fatal injuries. The CHP had reported the victim was a Salida resident.

Alma Reed, 50, whose hometown is unknown, has been identified as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by two vehicles as she crossed Yosemite Boulevard near Modesto's airport neighborhood Friday night.

Police said the first vehicle fled but the second vehicle stopped.
