Synopsis: In the early morning hours of April 22, a man broke into Voelker's McHenry Avenue motel room in Modesto and stabbed her to death. Police said the suspect is Erick John Vogel of Waterford. Voelker and Vogel once were in a relationship and had children together, police said. Voelker was a 26-year-old Waterford resident. The attack occurred about 2:20 a.m. at the Rodeway Inn at 936 McHenry Ave., between Fairmont and Hintze avenues. She had two children in the room at the time of the attack. The children were not hurt, police said. Police said Voelker had a restraining order against Vogel.

Suspect: 38-year-old Erick John Vogel of Waterford who was arrested April 25 in Waterford
