Stanislaus baseball takes both games in doubleheader

Baseball

• CSU STANISLAUS 8-18, NW NAZARENE 1-3, at Turlock — Jacob Thelen had four hits, four RBIs and scored five runs over two games, while Leandro Dottavio had three hits and drove in seven runs in the nightcap as the Warriors swept the non-conference doubleheader.

Stanislaus improved to 27-14 overall, including 13-1 in non-conference play, while the Crusaders fell to 11-23 on the year.

The Warriors and Crusaders play a single game today at noon, then Stanislaus plays host to Oregon Tech for a doubleheader Sunday at noon.

• MERCED COLLEGE 4, SOLANO COLLEGE 3, at Solano — NorCal's No. 2-ranked Blue Devils erased a 3-0 deficit in the non-conference game. Merced (31-6) scored the winning run in the ninth when Kori Melo singled home Ruben Perez with one out. Perez, Melo and Ian Fregosi had two hits apiece.

Track and Field

• STANISLAUS AT CLAY INVITATIONAL, at Azusa Pacific — Several Warrior athletics notched personal bests during action at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

Jasimen Bailey tossed 145-05 in the discus, bettering the 136-3¾ she reached on March 14, while April Montgomery clocked a personal-best 2 minutes, 12.30 seconds in the 800 meters.

On the men's side, freshman Rashee Dean from Delhi lept 48-½ in the triple jump to finish third with a personal best. Other personal bests came from Valentin Alberto in the shot put (46-11¾,) and Dawson Vorderbruegge in the 5,000 (15:17.08.)
